| 説明 | .Gambella was colonized in 1898. The king of Ethiopia, Menelik II, sent an expedition corp to the ''lowlands' [?]. The expedition was motivated by French men who wanted to reach the White Nile before the English troops. Some Russian traders, sent as embassadors by the Tsar, were also part of it. Arriving in Gambella, most of the troop was exhausted because of the heat and diseases (malaria!!!) they were not prepared for. French arrived late to the White, it led to the incident of Fashoda: French and English were both claiming to have arrived first to the White Nile.In the case, the scramble for Africa is part of the colonial project.
