The LC Torana was built from October 1969-Feb 1972The 6 cyl cars got a mesh grille, body coloured horizontal central bar, pointed in the centre and rectangular wrap around tail lights; S or SL and 95hp 138 cu in (2250cc) or the optional 114hp 161 cu in (2600cc)A sporty 2 door, the GTR got 125hp 161 cu in, 4 speed floor shift, louvres in the front guards, black out treatment, side stripes, GTR badging, sports wheels and sports instrumentation.The GTR was developed further for competition use, the GTR XU-1, identified with front and rear spoilers, it got 160hp 186 cu in 6 cyl, fitted with 3 Zenith Stromberg carburettors, cast iron headers, performance cylinder head and camshaft.In 1971, the 180hp ‘Bathurst’ version got a heavier duty clutch, thicker front discs, reworked cylinder head, new pistons and a wilder camshaft.1397 LC GTR XU1s built, 299 Bathurst versions made |
