| 説明 | Sinum perspectivum (Say, 1831) - white baby's ear snail in saltwater tank. (captive, Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, Sanibel Island, Florida, USA)The gastropods (snails & slugs) are a group of molluscs that occupy marine, freshwater, and terrestrial environments. Most gastropods have a calcareous external shell (the snails). Some lack a shell completely, or have reduced internal shells (the slugs & sea slugs & pteropods). Most members of the Gastropoda are marine. Most marine snails are herbivores (algae grazers) or predators/carnivores.The white baby's ear snail, Sinum perspectivum, is a naticid gastropod, a group of predatory marine snails. Shown above is a live specimen - note that the soft parts of the snail completely envelop the shell. The dark spiral apex of the shell can be seen through the slightly translucent soft tissues. Sinum perspectivum prefers to be infaunal - this photo is part of a series showing burrowing behavior into the sandy substrate.Classification: Animalia, Mollusca, Gastropoda, Naticidae-------------------More info. at:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinum_perspectivumandz14.invisionfree.com/Conchologist_Forum/index.php?showtop... |
