| 説明 | Koutoubia Mosque dates from the early 12th century and became the model for other structures such as the La Giralda belltower for the Seville Cathedral in Spain (which then inspired the Freedom Tower in Miami, Florida, USA). Its name comes from ‘koutoub,’ the Arabic word for book, because there was once a bookseller’s market nearby. Legend has it that the three golden spheres at the top of the minaret were donated by the mother of the Saadian sultan Ahmed el Monsour Edhabi in penance for missed fasting days during Ramadan. On Google Earth:Koutoubia Mosque 31°37'26.83"N, 7°59'35.94"W |
