説明 | The Chance-Vought F-8 Crusader was a Navy fighter from the period between the Korean War and the Vietnam War. It reflected the transitional nature of its times; while it could carry a couple of missiles, it, like all fighters before it, was designed to use guns as its primary weapon. The F-8 was, in fact, the last American fighter designed in this way; all its successors would carry missiles as their primary weapons and include a gun only as a backup (if at all). This F-8 is on display at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia. |
