| 説明 | Sadhus or Hindu holy men wander the Indian subcontinent on a perpetual barefoot pilgrimage to holy places. Though they deliberately reject the conventions of the Hindu caste system, their own subculture involves an intricate network of sects and traditions. A sadhu's affiliation can be interpreted by his garments, by the implements he carries, and by the coloured designs paneted on his forehead. This picture has been taken in the temple of Pashupatinath in Kathmandu valley which is considered as one of the holiest shrines of the Hindus glorifying Lord Shiva. True sadhus are mixing there with true charlatans, more interested in getting money from tourists than in any holy activity.More pictures from Nepal on Fotopedia the first collaborative photo encyclopedia. |
