| 説明 | The Toklat River rest area had a lot of smaller toilets (vs. a single, larger building), each of which had these "chimneys" (vents). So there's all of Alaska to take pictures of, and I'm photographing toilet chimneys... :-)Again, apologies for the lack of activity. Classes started this week, and I'm totally swamped. Things should settle down some in a week or so, but the beginning is always crazy for me, in part of course because I spent the summer on Flickr instead of writing syllabi, etc. :-). I'm really bummed that I don't have time to be enjoying all your amazing photographs, but life's full of difficult choices.As a sign of how busy things are, I submitted some photos to the BBC Photographer of the Year competition a few weeks ago and then forgot to keep any sort of track of what happened. 2 days ago a Google alert brought to my attention that one of my submissions was chosen out of over 2,000 entries as one of the 12 semi-finalists in Round 3! Woot! Except that by the time I found out, the voting was several days over, so I didn't even get a chance to vote, more less encourage you folks to vote. Oh, well, it's pretty darn cool just to have made it that far.I know of at least one other Flickrite that had a photo make the semi-finals: Deborah Lattimore's wonderful photo of the Fat Chance Belly Dancers was a semi-finalist in Round 2. (I suspect there are others, but no names that I immediate recognize.) |
