| 説明 | I'm here in the Burns Room to listen to Janice Galloway discussing her latest book of short stories: Jellyfish, so take the opportunity of shooting a few pictures of the wonderful collection of Robert Burns items held here in the Mitchell Library Collection. The Mitchell Library opened for business in 1877 and soon began an active collecting of Burns books, memorabilia and artifacts. Today the collection is one of the most comprehensive available anywhere in the world, comprising over 5,000 items including 900 volumes of his works, the star items being two copies of the 1876 Kilmarnock Edition of "Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect" Access to the collection is strictly controlled and its a great pleasure to have some time to look around.Robert Burns 1759 - 1796. |
