JONES DIES; KANSAN 52 YEARS ______Passed Away at His Home on SouthWater After a Long Illness.______ John Wesley Jones, a resident of Kansas for the past 52 years, died at his home, 838 South Water Street, this morning, after an illness lasting several months. Mr. Jones was a member of the Garfield Post G. A. R., and served during the Civil War in the 167th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. He came to Kansas in 1866, immediately after he mustered out of the army, and settled on a homestead in Coffey County. He came to Wichita eleven years ago and moved to his home on South Water Street. He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Jones; three daughters, Mrs. R. E. Cunningham, Mrs. Rose Taylor and Mrs. Ora Wilson; and two sons, Charles W. and B. R. Jones. Funeral services will be in charge of the Garfield Post and will be announced later. The body will lie in state at the parlors of the City Undertaking Company after tomorrow morning. Jones, retired farmer, who died at his home, 838 South Water Street, Saturday, as a result of wounds said to be the result of an attack made upon by Peter Criqul last December, were held from the parlors of the City Undertaking Company this afternoon at 4 o’clock and were in charge of Rev. Oliver N. Roth and the G. A. R. Internment was made in Highland Cemetery. |
