| 説明 | Before you read on, please do one thing. Think of something that terrifies you. Not scares you or makes you nervous, but something that completely freezes you with horror. Something that would make your mind go blank, something that would keep you up a night sick with paranoia. Think of the Shining or Rosemary's Baby or It. I don't expect it is easy to do.That night I went to bed fairly early, relaxed and happy, the mountain a fading memory. I knew I would probably dream about the mountain, as the only thing I saw when I closed my eyes were stairs, heights, and a laughing long nosed face. Around 4am I woke up screaming. Around 4am I bolted from my bed across the bedroom in what Jenn says was like a scene directly out of the Exorcist.Around 4am I woke Jenn up and she began screaming as well.I remember only two things very well, the feeling as if something was crawling across my face and the feeling of extreme panic. I don't really remember screaming, or how I ended up out of the bedroom, though I remember Jenn sitting me down in front of my computer, both of our hearts pounding. She said I kept yelling something was on my face. After three minutes composure, we ransacked the room, me with bug spray in one hand and a shoe in the other. We found nothing. Afterwards trying to go back to sleep was a battle against paranoia. Anytime I began to drift off, if there was a noise from the air conditioner or if my blanket shifted or if Jenn's hand stayed on my head or arm too long, I bolted up, quickly realizing again that it was nothing.I really wish we had found something though, not because I was worried about it, and not because I wanted to kill it, but because deep down I knew there was nothing there to begin with, deep down I knew Oominesan had reached out down through the stretches of the Kii Mountain Range, reached out laughing to torture me one last time. |
