説明 | As I was sitting, patiently awaiting the breve goodness that is a $4 coffee (and worth every penny, to me), I happened to glance over to my right and came upon this gentle yet loud, orchestrated scene; the Starbucks emblem set along with some beautiful local art. I noticed the dim, quiet light that was placed over the small pictures, which were pencil-drawn. I was acutely aware of the bright, glaring light emitted from the more commercial piece hanging on the wall. I realized in a city of extravagance, there is no subtlety... things that are subtle are consequently lost in the shuffle.I felt that this was art... subtle, serene, pretentious. Art in America. I don't understand modern art. I am more of a fan of classical art- Rubens, Rembrandt, Vermeer, van Eyck, Giorgione, Titian. I've never been a fan of modern art (well, past Kahlo or Dali) because I don't understand most of it. And partially because I feel like I could do something like Pollock.I did like this, however. Unintentional on the part of Starbucks? Who knows. The caramel macciatto sure was tasty, anyway. |
