My photos are FREE to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks.I know I showed you this before, but remember I am walking back to get the ferry but still taking pictures so some sites will be familiar.Alcatraz Island is located in the San Francisco Bay, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) offshore.Alcatraz, often referred to as "The Rock" was at various times home to such famous criminals as Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly and Mickey Cohen. The prison has cramped cells and a creepy hospital wing, along with stories of fantastic escape attempts and the prison’s famous personalities. But Alcatraz is more than just a prison; it has been a lighthouse, a military fortification, and for 19 months between 1969 and 1971, it was occupied by Native Americans wanting to build an education and cultural centre there. |
