| 説明 | The Story Starts Here.On April 24th I found a stick. It wasn't just any stick, it was a five foot long shaft of bamboo, set down on a small island of rock off the coast of Tenjin for me to find on my birthday. For me to find and use as a perfect walking stick. It was the perfect length, the perfect thickness. It was lost, forever, on July 30th, eaten by Oominesan, the first payment for whatever sins it deemed I had made against it. I don't know what time it was, it may have been about an hour in, but I know it was right after our first break in one of the small teahouses/shacks that are built up along the route. I was at the front of our group of walkers thinking to myself that this was a much easier climb that people made it out to be when on the first step of about a set of a 15 step stairway I slipped forward onto my knees and dropped my stick in the foot and a half gap that separated the planks of wood. My five foot piece of bamboo bounced of the crossbeams and began it's slide into the valley below. Now here I was, only a short way into the climb sans my walking staff and bowed on my knees before the great god of the Mountain. |
