| 説明 | The invaluable British Bugs online identification guide describes it as "The sole UK representative of the Alydidae family, this large blackish bug is unmistakeable. The 4th antennal segment is curved and the hind femora bear several spines. It is a powerful flier, exposing an orange patch on the surface of the abdomen..." It was the orange patch that first alerted me to it flying onto the window of my conservatory (TM166450) on 16 August 2015. I caught the bug, photographed it as best I could and then released it into the garden. It was about 1 cm long. Unfortunately it didn't reveal its colourful abdomen to the camera. There are only 7 observations of this species in Suffolk on the NBN Gateway system, 2 from my area of East Suffolk, and one of them is from 1912!ID confirmed by Joe Botting. |
