説明 | Street Life . Rick Hohensee . Lafayette Park, across from The White house . 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW . WDC . Thursday afternoon, 13 July 2006 . Elvert Xavier Barnes PhotographyRick who I have photographed several times before in Lafayette Park but would first capture him in Malcolm X Park during the 10 April 2006 'We Are America' Immigration Rally at flickr.com/photos/perspective/sets/72057594104007952/. We've discussed my interest in including him in my ongoing Street Life Project. On this hot and humid day in WDC asked that I pay particular attention to his cardboard hat and cut out tennis shoes. He said that he, himself, had cut out the holes in his tennis shoes, so that, in the summer and hot weather his feet can breath. And, perhaps to prevent or lessen the effect of sweaty and athletes feet.On this occasion, and as he has before, Rick would hand me a piece of paper that tells sometningabout him and his mission. An excerpt reads "At noon on the day after this amendment is ratified the occupants of the offices of President and Vice President shall be removed, and shall be repolaced for the remainder of 2005 - 2009 term by Richard Allen Hohensee, President and Senator Russell Feingold, Vice President. This replacement and term shall be supported by a special chain of succession composed of random drawings from all those Sentators and Representatives who voted against the joint resolution allowing the invasion of Iraq ..."The intent of Street Life, and through the use of photography, is to draw attention to some of the most basic concerns and needs of the homeless. Street Life will attempt to record, document and capture the homeless in very natural states and scenarios. |
