| 説明 | "The lodge, the lodge… It boasted great things. We took off our boots again and went upstairs to the neatly wood-paneled hall there, lined with polished wood benches, equipped with a computer, copy machine, radiators. Down the hall was a kitchenette with dishes, a metal sink, a boiler built over a woodstove. Beautiful. More than I had expected.BUT.But the radiators didn’t work. No fire burned in that woodstove. No water came through that sink. The computer, of course, would never be hooked up. ...Only one bed. Across a double-depth plank of polished wood our hosts had laid a very thin mat, a musty pillow, and all the spare blankets they owned—all 3 of the little things. Jasenko said 'I told them we were just friends.' I could see our hosts’ plight. I could see our own. No heat and no insulation in that wood building—we were facing a time to think practical thoughts, not 'proper' ones." |
