| 説明 | Grade I listed.The church dates from the 12th C. onwards and was restored in 1894.There is a western tower, nave with north and south aisles, chancel, south porch, and vestry.The tower is from the 14th century and has an embattled parapet with eight pinnacles. There are three bells, one is about 450 years old, but they can now only be chimed.The north arcade which is of three bays is the oldest part of the church, from the late 12th century. The west bay is an addition. The south arcade of four bays and octagonal piers is from the 13th century.The nave has a 15th century clerestory with 3 two-light windows on each side.The chancel was rebuilt in 1895, when the roof was raised, and also the east window was filled in and an oak reredos created behind the altar. There is a triptych by G. Jackson from 1903. To the south of the chancel is a Lady Chapel containing a gravestone with a carving of a lady circa 1300.There is a brass from C.1400 on a tomb chest to the D'Alison family, and also an effigy of Hugo Ingrams from 1874 by Thomas Woolner.There is some fine glass by Burlison and Grylls, however much of the original stained-glass was removed to Messingham church.The organ is a single manual by Walker.The church was again refurbished at the end of the 20th century. |
