| 説明 | Some days you feel driven to drink, so after a day out with several of the usual suspects on a blustery ride from Great Ayton to Saltburn and return through Redcar I finished up recovering in the Golden Smog in Stockton. Nice to see this thinly disguised tribute to Sir Bradley which I guess must be a hook on the recent cycling Tour of Yorkshire. Well today was my first outing in my spanking new fully-carbonated Boardman Super-Pro road bike. It is of course a commonplace that many lessor men on attaining my seniority- a bracket encompassing the rough bounds of early-to- late-middle-age, facing declining powers and the loss of youth succumb to the lure of lipstick-red open-topped sports-cars in generally doomed to futility efforts at countering the gravitational pull and hydro-static pressures negative tendencies on the uprising sap of a new Spring. Any suggestion that my recent purchase of said Boardman Super-Pro (goodness girls, what a head-turner it is), could possibly fall into such a slanderous category will be resisted to the full extent of my vigour. I am however keeping my fingers crossed... And why to the pub? Well first day out on new super-bike, 30 miles on the clock the back tyre explodes and a testing of the front confirms a slow puncture there, 100psi down to 30. Five miles after repair (John you are a Saint) the gears stop shifting between the chain-wheels... Nothing like feeling pleased with your new major purchase is there? Back to Halfords (bike purchased there yesterday), and sorted out thankfully with three new inner-tubes thrown my way to secure my taxed goodwill. We shall see, we shall see. In the meantime landlord, I notice my glass is empty! |
