| 説明 | The DIT college campus at Grangegorman is located in the heart of Dublin and is just 1km from O’Connell Street. Its close neighbours include Smithfield to the south; Stoneybatter to the west; Broadstone to the east; and Phibsboro and the North Circular Road to the North.There are 11 protected structures on the Grangegorman site,two of which are currently undergoing necessary conservation works to stabilise them. It is not only the old buildings on site that are being conserved however as the historic wrought iron Grangegorman Gates have been carefully restored and reinstalledin place on Grangegorman Lower. Bushy Park Ironworks carried out the restoration, sourcing salvaged and reforged iron from Yorkshire as it is no longer manufactured in the British Isles.Originally brought from Santry House, the gates were first erected in Grangegorman c1940. The gates themselves are thought to have been forged between c1820 and 1865, making them at least 150 years old. |
