| 説明 | Situated on Cornwall's Roseland peninsula, this is one of those lovely spots that is simultaneously not far from a main road but nigh-impossible to find. A veritable labyrinth of twisty narrow roads with steep banks; no road signs and a counter-intuitive geography. In fact, the one road sign in the local village of Veryan had been twisted 90 degrees so we had a long detour in the wrong direction. Took ruddy hours to find this huge beach.The paradox is that you come to these places to relax and enjoy yourselves but arrive there in a state of extreme tension. The first 30 minutes are spent trying to prize your fingernails from the steering wheel. It is an hour before the parents can bring themselves to speak to each other. Naturally the kids are oblivious to the majority of this. Or just don't care. And accordingly, they skip happily down the beach. Before you know it, they are poking washed up dead animals with kelp, falling into rock pools, defiling nature with sticks and giggling like imbeciles. The very presence of innocent childhood pursuits in a natural environment is a great balm to the soul. Your worries evaporate. First world anxieties, job-related stress and middle-class angst just simply sublime into the ozone-laden breeze. |
