| 説明 | Retired Des Moines Police Captain Richard L. Sanders was recognized today for not only his past years of service but also for the barriers he broke by being the first African American Officer to be promoted to the rank of Captain. The promotion was during a time of civil unrest in Des Moines in the 60's. In the 16 years that I have been with DMPD I had heard of Captain Sanders once or twice (!) and I am sorry that I never had the opportunity to work for him. |
