| 説明 | Parkside Lunatic Asylum was built in 1870. It is a superb building of sandstone and bluestone in the Gothic style. Erected in 1870 and now used for other purposes. It is interesting to think that this grand structure was built before the state had even taken on any responsibility for building schools.Parkside Lunatic Asylum became Parkside Mental Hospital in 1913 as views of the community towards mental health issuses changed. In 1967 it became Glenside Hospital reflecting more changes in social attitudes. Building of the main complexes took about ten years from 1870 to 1880. |
