説明 | North Wales. The Miners’ Track, one of the popular routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). On a generally overcast day, this short unexpected break was too good to waste. The trio of walkers, motorcyclists, thought the same and parking at nearby Pen Y Pass, set out for a short stroll being limited by their protective motorcycling clothing. Londoners on their first trip into the North Welsh Mountains they told me they were impressed by what they saw. As a Londoner myself, I can well remember my wonderment when I first headed into the mountains. The white bags they are about to pass contain large rocks that are used to maintain the tracks and paths. These rocks will be taken by helicopter to the upper reaches of the tracks to prevent the otherwise heavy erosion that the considerable number of walkers would soon produce. Skilled work by dedicated volunteers under the supervision of conservation experts goes on all the year round in the Snowdonia National Park, work on which so many visitors depend and take for granted.Best seen large. |
