| 説明 | This large fly is quite common in the bushland east of Perth during November. From wing tip to wing tip we have measured one at 70 mm across. It is probably the largest fly in Australia and the second largest in the world from what we know. This one is gathering sand in a pouch near its abdomen. The sand is mixed with its damp eggs and bombed out around gum trees or other vegetation etc. We have never seen one feeding. Love them! They don't bite!Photo: Fred |
