説明The Jarknoid designs of the Assemble Borg line were either strange or odd for the most part but Torture Mania is flat out disturbing. If the name alone didn't raise eyebrows, the fact the figure has parts inspired by medieval torture implements like the Judas Cradle should unsettle anyone. The figure was one of the evil antagonists of the line but it's hard to imagine the Japanese toy designers were taking a stance against torture so this is ultimately a mass manufactured plaything inspired by instruments of pain and suffering.Someone out there will undoubtedly object to this strenuously because this is increasingly the age of the chronically offended new puritan. But distasteful art can hardly be used to justify demands for heavy-handed censorship or bans. The dangers of that are well documented. In 1954, for example, the Comics Code Authority was established and as noted in Completely Mad, "(comic book censorship czar Charles F.) Murphy was responsible for 'cleaning up' 90 percent of the comics sold. The result, in comic historian Maurice Horn's opinion, was that 'as a creative force, the comic book simply ceased to exist for the remainder of the decade.'"By all means, feel free to take offense; just respect the rights of others to roll their eyes and ignore you.
