| 説明 | A big Thank You to everyone who helped today with the planting of new trees at the historic Stone House! The new trees are part of a larger project to replace the poplars that were recently removed after it was discovered that root growth was impacting the foundation walls of the Stone House and infiltrating its basement, posing serious structural and moisture issues. With support from the Manassas Battlefield Trust, big-tooth aspens (Populus grandidentata) were planted today at the house. Big-tooth aspen shares many characteristics of the white poplar's that were removed, but its roots are considered not as aggressive as those of the European poplar tree. |
