説明Photographed in Petaling Jaya, MalaysiaAssembly : ???Notes : This van is the property of Kuen Cheng High School. ( www.kuencheng.edu.my )Here's another Toyota HiAce clone from China, the CAM Placer-X, in use as a school bus ( in Malaysia, school vans like this are often called 'Bas Sekolah', even though they clearly aren't actual buses ). The CAM Placer-X has way too many names depending on who you ask; it's called a King Long van ( not sure what its exact model code is ) in China, and when it arrived in Malaysia in around 2011/12, it dropped the King Long name in favour of CAM, which stands for China Auto Manufacturers, the Malaysian company in charge of distributing ( and assembling ? ) these vans. Then there's also the extra name, Farid, which distinguishes the van above, which was reverse engineered from the fifth generation Toyota HiAce, from its predecessor which was cloned from the fourth gen HiAce.In addition, Berjaya Group, the Malaysian company which brought in the Jinbei Haise, the Chinese van that 'revolutionized' the Malaysian commercial van market, also has a rebadged version of the King Long called the Era Joylong Komuter, which is indistinguishable from the CAM Placer, apart from the different badges. Both the Placer and Joylong are blatant copies of the fifth gen Toyota HiAce, unlike the Jinbei Haise, which is built under license and hence the only legitimate Chinese van among the many copies. I can't really comment much on the Placer van above, all I can tell you is that it's really cheap for what you get, and it's the perfect mass people-mover for small businesses, groups or organizations. It's all so confusing isn't it ? Fortunately, the photos speak louder than my words, and I've recently made it a point to 'collect' all of these Chinese vans in Malaysia, so that you can see the differences with your own eyes.I LIKE / I DISLIKE : I don't know enough about this van to form any opinions.
