| 説明 | Terry Fox was student at SFU studying Kinesiology and played junior varsity basketball. In 1977, he was diagnosed with bone cancer which resulted in the amputation of his right leg above the knee.Terry decided to run across Canada to help raise money for cancer research and on April 12, 1980 he began his Marathon of Hope run in St John's, Newfoundland. However, cancer reappeared in his lungs and his run across Canada ended on on September 1, 1980 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.Terry passed away in June 1981 died at the age of 23.
