All you need is a USB-connected external CD-Rom drive in which to place your old version of Windows (I used Win 98SE). It recognized that the disc was in the external drive automatically, without me even having to press a key. CompUSA has the full edition of XP Pro listed at $299.99 right now. I bought the upgrade edition during an instant rebate deal for $99. This IO Magic External USB CD-Rom drive is available for under $40 (see pricegrabber.com). So my total cost: $140. My savings: $300-$140=$160 ! Woohoo! |
