| 説明 | Eight hundred people lived in Fairbanks in the winter of 1903. By the summer of 1904 the population had swelled to 5,000.The thriving town had two newspapers and numerous hotels, like the two story Pioneer. It featured 100 rooms, steam heat, electric lights, baths and flush toilets.A major fire in 1906 destroyed most of Fairbanks. The town quickly rebuilt, and in place of the early log cabins there now rose more substantial one and two-story buildings of frame construction with imported millwork. |
