| 説明 | Discovered a new non-native plant up at the summit of Haleakala, Henbit (Lamium amplexicaule).Henbit is native to Europe and a common weed in North America. It was previously found further down the mountain by Ron Nagata at Park Headquarters back in 1981, but was apparently gone by 1986.This is the latest of a half dozen common temperate weeds we've found at the summit over the past couple years that appear to hitchhike on visitors and find a climate match at the top of Haleakala.We pulled what we could, much of which was used for a collection to confirm the ID and document the status, but the Park's Vegetation Management crew will need to follow up as it had gone to seed. |
