説明 | "November 17, 1942Not many Grumman flights. "Dugout" sent 4 B17's, 3 B26's to bomb Japs here and at Bogainsville. All day P38's, P39's, SBD's, B26's, B17's have really been bombing Japs all day. We have been shelling them all day. They are nearly done for-I hope. We have them surrounded but they are dug in on coral. We cleaned guns all day. I am in charge of Settle's section because he is sick. Scuttlebut says we should be leaving this hellhole soon.November 18, 1942Since yesterday morning, our B17's, B26's, B24's, FBF's & P38's from various bases, including Guadalcanal, have been bombing Bogainsville every half hour, 24 hours a day. All day, B26, 24 & 17's & P38's bombed Bogainsville harbor and severely damaged another battleship. Bombed from 3000-2000 feet. Got 8 Zeros, lost 1 B17. Blew hell out of Bogainsville. Few of 112 came in today. Captain Foss of 121 was acclaimed America's greatest ace of W. War II. That's just another of 121 's accomplishments. 121 is the fightin'est squadron in the Pacific."From the Lloyd D.
