| 説明 | "October 28, 1942We bombed and strafed Jap lines and seaplane base. Did lots of damage. Went up to front lines and into no-man's-land to see killed Japs. There were about 300 dead Japs lying around the field. They tried to break our lines and take the airfield but MG's, mortars & howitzers literally tore them to pieces. Horne killed a Jap sniper. As the shells from artillery, etc. began exploding amid the Japs, they screamed, "Americans, have mercy!" Jap prisoners were burying the decaying bodies.October 29, 1942I am in charge of F4F4 no. 50, named Miss Irene I. A Jap patrol broke through our lines with an M.G.last night. Maytag Charlie came over but was chased off by anti-aircraft. Some Zeros were coming in to strafe us & our lines but turned back when they heard our Grummans coming in on them. They hid and did not reach our lines. Bombers came within 48 miles of our field but our Grummans chased them back home. I believe Tojo has cold feet."From the Lloyd D.
