説明 | U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (July 22, 2014) U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Richard Collins, center, Combat Logistics Battalion 22, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), landing support specialist and native of Detroit, strikes a training pad after being sprayed with oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray, also known as “pepper spray,” as part of an OC spray qualification course aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19). The Marines were exposed to the OC spray in order to demonstrate its potential effects and to build confidence in their ability to fight through the effects of the spray. The 22nd MEU is deployed with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout U.S. Central Command and the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
