The area that was close to our hotel!Metropol Parasol (Mercado de la Encarnación) Antiquarium de SevillaThe Metropol Parasol, popularly known as the Mushrooms of the Incarnation is a wooden structure with 2 concrete pillars housing the elevators to the lookout and is located in the central Plaza de la Encarnación in Seville, in the community independent of Andalusia (Spain). Its dimensions are 150 x 70 meters and a height of 26 meters, and was the winner of the open project by the City of Sevilla competition to carry out the rehabilitation of the square in which it is located; its designer was the Berlin architect Jürgen Mayer. Construction began on June 26, 2005, at an estimated cost of 50 million euros, and undergoing serious difficulties until 2010. Once eliminate with and having raised the project cost up to 86 million euros, was inaugurated on 27 March 2011, after its economic growth, its appearance and its location had caused much controversy during its construction. Due to its structure, which is shaped like a mushroom, it is popularly known as the Mushrooms of the Incarnation. It houses a market with local shopping and dining, a place of entertainment, a gazebo and Antiquarium museum. For its innovative design and tourism functions, has become a claim over the historic center of Seville, reports reaching starring internationally renowned newspapers such as the New York Times or the Washington Post.
