| 説明 | The mining and industrial town of Staveley lies on high ground four miles to the north-east of Chesterfield. The church of St. John the Baptist dates from the 13th-century and contains 15th, 16th and 17th century monuments to the Fretchville family, local lords of the manor.The Church contains an original Norman font dating from around 1175 and also inside the church is a rare feature known as is the Miner's Shrine, which contains a carving by a local craftsman of St. Michael, the patron Saint of Miners, a piece of coal from the local 'Ireland Colliery', and a miner's lamp which remains perpetually lit.Grade II listed 25th February 1966 |
