| 説明 | Mesozoic layers are beveled off Pennsylvanian rock north of Navajo Spring, where highway 163 cuts through Comb Ridge. Here you can clearly see the "de-roofing" effects of the uplift that produced the Colorado Plateau. If I'm right about what's also exposed in the Goosenecks canyon just southwest of here, the rock layers go down from Triassic Navajo Sandstone (white) through Permian layers to Pennsylvanian (blue-gray) Hermosa and Honaker Trail formation. The bottom level might be Paradox formation. Here's hoping a real geologist comes along and corrects me. |
