説明Just as you enter Delta Lake State Park off NY-46 there is a very obvious linear water feature (www.openstreetmap.org/way/272514316). Some people believe it to be the Black River Canal. Given that you can find the Black River Canal elsewhere in the park (www.openstreetmap.org/way/32505911), this is not possible. Given that it lines up perfectly with the planned route of the Ogdensburg, Clayton, and Rome Railroad, it's got to be a cut built for the railroad before Delta Dam was built and the lake flooded.A bit north of here is a narrow channel in the lake between what used to be hills before the lake was flooded, and are now islands. I don't know for sure, but in my mind it is certainly more of the OC&R railbed. It's where the railroad was routed, but with an unfinished railroad, you never really know what was built and what was unbuilt. That's part of the challenge and why it's so much fun to chase them.Maybe I'm seeing things, but I see a pair of treelines in the lake north of NY-46 which are approximately the width of a railroad cut. Makes me want to go boating with an underwater camera to see what I can see.
