Although factory V8-specced cars are very hard to come by (unless you want to pay the big bucks), motor transplants in these old cars are very easy and the motors can be picked up for relatively good prices. For example, a good, running 302ci can be found for around $1000, while a 351ci Cleveland will set you back around $2000.Buying Guide:Like the Holdens we featured in last month’s Affordable Muscle column, the chances of stumbling across a genuine XA, XB or XC GT Falcon for a steal are slim, especially in coupe form. If you’re on a very tight budget, the best option is to find yourself a good, sturdy shell or six-cylinder specified Falcon Sedan, and then have fun doing the transplant to 302 or 351 yourself.Currently car prices are low, and there are some great finds out there just begging for a Clevo, some elbow grease and a little cash.When checking out your potential new piece of muscle, make sure to pay special attention to every body panel possible ” all are prone to rust, so it pays to go over the entire car centimetre by centimetre.
