| 説明 | Today was a “perfect storm” media-wise for Buffalo District thanks to our subject matter experts Mike Asquith, Ed Gawarceki and Roman Figler and WGRZ-TV meteorologist Jennifer Stanonis. What started out as a straightforward piece on our new high-tech survey boat “Witmer,” morphed to include how hydrographic surveys fit in with our dredging program. Survey Team chief Figler offered Stanonis and her photographer a ride on the Witmer so they could see an actual hydrographic survey of the Black Rock channel being done. How high tech is the Witmer? It can cover more area, faster, with a smaller crew and spot a soda can on the bottom of a channel. Mike Asquith outlined Buffalo District’s very ambitious FY 14 dredging program. As we were only a few miles from the Niagara River Ice Boom, meteorologist Stanonis did an update on the status of the boom removal with the chief of Public Affairs. Last, since we were also within hailing distance of Buffalo District’s Black Rock Lock, why not do a sidebar with Ed Gawarecki on the upcoming August celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the lock?Four stories in two hours. Not bad. |
