説明 | The City of Bath and the beautiful countryside which surrounds it has been described as one of England's most beautiful places to visit. Bath is situated within the south west of England and is a fabulous city to visit. The Roman Baths - Around Britain's only hot springs, the Romans built thefinest religious spa in northern Europe. This greattemple and bathing complex still flows with natural hotwater. The extensive remains and a Roman museum ofinternational significance lie beneath the Pump Room and Abbey Church Yard in the centre of Bath.Pulteney Bridge - crosses the River Avon in Bath, England. It was completed by 1774, and connected the city with the newly built Georgian town of Bathwick. Designed by Robert Adam in a Palladian style, it is one of only four bridges in the world with shops across its full span on both sides. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building.Parade Gardens - Majestic park at river level over looking the weir and providing the perfect retreat from shopping! These delightful gardens are Bath’s most centrally situated and popular pleasure grounds, attracting both tourists and residents. Overlooking the River Avon they give fine views of Robert Adams Pulteney Bridge and the weir, especially from the colonnade built early in the last century. The bedding displays are among the finest in the country and the annual 3-dimensional floral feature in the summer is always fun. Concerts are held in the bandstand throughout the summer months. The Royal Crescent - is a row of 30 terraced houses laid out in a sweeping crescent in the city of Bath, England. Designed by the architect John Wood the Younger and built between 1767 and 1774, it is among the greatest examples of Georgian architecture to be found in the United Kingdom and is a Grade I listed building. Although some changes have been made to the various interiors over the years, the Georgian stone façade remains much as it was when it was first built. The 114 columns are 30 inches (76 cm) in diameter reaching 47 feet (14.3 m), each with an entablature 5 feet (1.5 m) deep. The central house (now the Royal Crescent Hotel) boasts two sets of coupled columns. |
