| 説明 | Union Pacific # 7079, an GE C44/60AC, trailing a locomotive-move consist of three GE locomotives, travels northbound on the Martinez Subdivision of UP rail in Richmond, CA. This particular stretch of the subdivision is parallel to a portion of Interstate 580 north of the I-80 overlap, going to/from the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, (AKA: The Roller Coaster) accounting for the cars in the photo. Taken by a Nikon F4s with a Promaster 7 100-400mm ƒ 4.5-6.7 AF-D-type lens on Fujicolor Superia Xtra 800 film.Note: the hopper cars are not part of the consist - they're stored on a siding...Also of note is what is probably a Great Blue Heron (it's too out of focus and too small to be sure) Ardea herodias below the right-hand bush...The C44/60AC was GE's solution when the AC6000CW turned out to have problems with the 6000 HP 7HDL prime mover. The C44/60AC (UP's designation, BTW) has the 4400 HP 7FDL prime mover installed on an AC6000CW body: this was supposed to be swapped for a 7HDL when that engine's teething problems were worked out - but the higher HP engine was never installed, because the teething problems took too long to fix - and the model with the 7FDL turned out to be a good runner. This particular locomotive is the last one of the first order of the model delivered to the UP. Note that this locomotive still has the "We Will Deliver" slogan that caused a lot of ironic graffiti tags - like "but when?" or "eventually" or "when we feel like it"... |
