| 説明 | The plaque on the right hand side of the doorway records that in 1745 Bonnie Prince Charlie made this house his base on his doomed march south towards London. While in Brampton he received the surrender of the strategically important town of Carlisle. Not much blood was spilt over that outcome but both the burghers of Carlisle and the Prince's troops suffered a harsher fate after the men of the '45 retreated back north for the final fateful Battle of Culloden on16th. April 1746. |
