| 説明 | Sunrise over the South Coast of California. The view is from a hill in Santa Barbara, the only city on the mainland to provide a view of both sunrise and sunset across the Pacific Ocean. Rincon Mountain is the low peak beyond the water. One of the most seismically active of California mountains, Rincon is coming down while it's also going up. (The La Conchita landslide happened there in 2005. Here's my shot of it, taken not long after.) To its right on the horizon, near the pine tree, are the Santa Monica Mountains, on the south slope of which Malibu meets the sea. By the way, I am sure most of the clouds you see in this shot, were produced directly or indirectly by aviation. Some are the smeared and collected remains of contrails. Others emerge out of a stratosphere cooked by jet engines. One of these months I'll put up a GoPro time lapse movie of this at work. Meanwhile, This one will do. |
