| 説明 | St Mary Magdalen with St.Paul in the Bail & St Michael on the Mount, Parish Church of the ancient City.The original Saxon St Mary's was demolished in 1072, by Bishop Remigius, to make way for his Norman cathedral.The first church on this site, just outside the Cathedral precinct, was built in 1280. The medieval building, partly destroyed in the civil war, was restored in 1695 & twice in the Victorian period. The first Christian church in Lincolnshire is thought to have stood at the site of St.Paul in the Bail (a few hundred yards to the North and now demolished) more than thirteen centuries ago. |
