| 説明 | Water from rain and snow percolates through the soil and goes down the mountain slowly between rocks underground, pooling somewhere in a subterranean reservoir called an aquifer. Where the water emerges is a wild spring. This one has been capped to protect the source from disturbance and piped to make the water easier to pour into a canteen, say. This one's got a nice cement enclosure around it and a lid of 2x4 wood labeled "Sierra," as in "Sierra National Forest," making this trail one where you can quench your thirst along the way. When I'm thirsty enough and have exhausted my water supply, I often take the risk of drinking from wild water sources. So far, I haven't been gotcha'd for doing that. But I understand that if you get gotcha'd in the Sierra, the culprit will likely be Giardia, a parasite that causes cramps and diarrhea for two weeks. It can be treated. |
