| 説明 | I'm currently working on a user research project for a science portal which the main audience is teens and twenty-somethings, so I decided to try one of the top web sites for this age range: myspace.com.I want to share with you some of my first impressions about my personal information page at myspace. In the sign up process I unchecked the option "Allow others to see when it's my birthday", but my age and my zodiac sign are displayed (!?). Ok, it's not exactly my birthday, but why wasn't I asked if I want to turn this information public?! On the same page, it's displayed that I'm single, I don't smoke and I don't drink. I wasn't asked about either of these topics in the sign up... When I'm logged in and on my page there is a box called "Contacting Gustavo" that makes no sense at all. Why would I block myself, add me to friends, ... ? The biggest heading of the page is "Gustavo is in your extended network", again: I'm Gustavo!These are only some issues about the personal page. All myspace interface is a mess and there are so many features that it's hard to understand how they are related to each other. But myspace has huge success in this age range that I mentioned and can be considered a reality check to alert us that are no right formulas in web projects. |
