| 説明 | I didn't notice this last year when we visited the Cheesewring (up there in the background). I read about it in the completely ridiculous book "Mysterious Places" by Peter Underwood (Bossiney Books, 1988). To the president of the Ghost Club, almost everywhere is 'ominous' , or 'foreboding', or 'haunted', or a meeting place of witches. He describes the 'cave', with a little exaggeration, as follows... "Below the Cheesewring is Daniel Gumb's cave. He was a stone cutter and amateur mathematician who lived the life of a hermit here until his death in 1776. His chiselled diagrams are still extant on the huge stone slab which formed the roof of his cavern." |
