| 説明 | With a large storm settled over the eastern side of the country, I arrived at my little malibu pier with subdued intentions. The dramatic exploding light was no where to be found, though some rather amazing stormy clouds were making a stand out on the pacific just off the starboard bow. They seemed to rotate around a hidden vortex like an invisible cloud carrousel if you will who's focus point was a few hundred miles out to sea. It was very geometrically dramatic, though void of that special kind of light I find so appealing in color photography. As I've said in the past, it's a relief sometimes not to be is such a hurry.... wondering if you picked the right subject or the right spot of earth and camera placement for that one brief splash of light for which we all hunt so dearly. How easily a short lived magic moment can be wasted to a "Card Full", "Dead Battery" or mediocre composition at THAT SPECIAL few seconds of color landscape photography DRAMA that ultimately defines us all. If people only knew.This 28th day of October 2013, with spooky pumpkins on my mind, my intention was to do some super long exposures here on the left side of the pier on this stormy water day. Which i did, but, as always.... while I was engulfed in such a thing, a quick stretch of drama happened in such a way that i quickly abandoned my VARI ND for enough time to snap this diagonally turbulent image. I thought the vertical composition exaggerated the drama of the moment a bit more than the horizontal and a timely wave crash at a second or so brought some eye white to the foreground and helped fuel the pop.
