My photos are FREE for anyone to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks - NONE OF MY PICTURES ARE HDR.The huge cross (33m tall) on the Hum Hill behind the city. It seems to stand there quietly and peacefully, but nothing could be less true. The cross has been a topic for discussion ever since it was first erected in 2000. The cross is of course a religious symbol for the Catholic Croats in Mostar.The Muslims do not identify with it and are not happy about the cross being where it is. They see it as a symbol for hatred and intolerance and that it’s present worsens the division in the city. In 2006 a man was arrested for his alleged plot to blow up the cross. This shows how deep the feelings are over this cross. People all over the world do such evil things in the name of religion. I am sure if the crescent moon and star was on the hill instead of a cross the feelings would be reversed. Why do religions have to be so intolerant of each other, there is only one God (called various names) and he is common to all religions. |
